Wildlife Sanctuary Revitalization Project

Harvey Moore Wildlife Sanctuary

The Southeast Environmental Association began year one of the HMWS Revitalization Project.  It consisted mainly of general grounds maintenance and improvements to the existing 3.5km trail system providing better access and safe travel for visiting locals and tourists.  Upgrades were made to the park grounds and its existing infrastructure to increase interest in the park and provide a more pleasant visitor experience.   The trails and their associated unique features were mapped out using a GPS which provided the necessary information to create a ‘trails map’, an information brochure and a detailed trail guide for public distribution.  In 3 short months, the project benefited greatly as a result of resources and assistance provided by various PEI departments without which, the project would not have accomplished what it did.
